Press Release

High power tractors for construction site work

CLAAS, one of the leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery worldwide will again be attending the Munich bauma with its own stand.

At the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, which runs from the 11th to 17th April, CLAAS will be exhibiting a selection of high-power tractors up to 530 h.p. with various attachments and models for professional construction site work.

High power traditional tractors are frequently required in the civil engineering sector for transporting earth and materials over difficult terrain. Large tractors like the CLAAS XERION are also used to stabilise the ground and for milling, to homogenise mixtures of material that are difficult to compact. To address these requirements CLAAS offers its high-power series of tractors to construction companies and engineering service providers such as contractors for agricultural and civil engineering works.

The demands that building sites put on tractor technology are particularly tough: dirt roads during road construction for example. CLAAS takes this into account in their product development. For this reason CLAAS tractors feature a wide selection of tyres, high drawbar and load carrying capacity, high lift capacity, efficient and high torque PTOs as well as a professional driver cabin design adapted to the needs of construction companies and contractors.

Transport all-rounder – the AXION 800 series

The AXION 800 series is an ideal all-rounder for transport work with dumpers and tipping trailers. With a low overall weight of just 10.5 t, the AXION 800 can handle a large additional load. Even when pulling a 40 t trailer in difficult terrain, these tractors are easy to handle. This comes from their high engine power, up to 295 h.p. and continuously variable CMATIC transmission combined with intuitive controls that drivers can quickly learn to use, even when they change over. An AXION 870 CMATIC will be exhibited at bauma with a Tridem Halfpipe HP from Krampe and a tyre pressure control system by R&M Landtechniksysteme GmbH.

Maximum power for heavy towing – the AXION series

With a power output of up to 410 h.p. the AXION 900 has been developed as a professional machine for heavy towing work. With very high PTO output and a maximum lifting capacity of 11.5 t, AXION 900 models are primarily intended for combined towing jobs such as for the use of towed stabilisers. In spite of its high engine and PTO power, the AXION 900 has impressively low fuel consumption. Like the AXION 800, the continuously variable CMATIC transmission and the intuitive design of the controls prevent operator errors and makes it easy when drivers change over. CLAAS is exhibiting an AXION 950 CMATIC at bauma.

For extreme challenges – the XERION

Extreme towing performance from CLAAS with the XERION 4x4 concept.  Powered by engines developing up to 530 h.p. and high traction from 4 equal-size wheels with a diameter of up to 2.2 m and a width of 90 cm. With this high towing capacity XERION is suited to combinations with big milling machines or stabilisers. The XERION also has very high PTO performance, making it ideal for mobile hackers or shredder machines for example. A special feature of the XERION is its 180° rotating cabin, which means that the driver always has a perfect view of his work area. The XERION is also equipped with a continuously variable CMATIC transmission and can deploy its full power both for tractive force or forward thrust. CLAAS is exhibiting a XERION 4000 TRAC VC with rotating cabin as well as forestry tiller/mulchers from seppi.m.

Useful equipment options

The AXION 800, AXION 900 and XERION are equipped with a telemetry module that can be used to record work time and perform data transfer for diagnostic and maintenance purposes. As well as its practical basic set of features, CLAAS offers additional equipment packages and options to suit individual requirements. For example there are tyre pressure control systems for extreme working conditions, cameras, track guiding systems and many others. Other extensions such as mounting brackets, base plates, hydraulic kits and axle supports or interfaces between the tractor and council equipment are implemented in collaboration with recognised partners like Hans Sauter GmbH in Stetten.

Extensive service network

An important advantage for all customers is the extensive CLAAS sales and service network around the world. Fast repairs and spare parts supply is thus guaranteed for companies working on a national or international scale.
